Benji and Lexi: Getting to Know You

Benji's Side of the Story

It hasn't been easy. This new gal, Lexi, is always moving around. I like to sit for long periods of time. She seemed to like me at first, but I made one little mistake, and from then on she'd snap at me whenever I tried to be friends. We got into one fight after another. I was getting a little tired of her constantly trying to be top bunny.  I mean, I'm a guy, and I'm tough.  She's only a kid, but she has a lot of spunk.  Each time I'd go near her she growls, and that really puts me off.  I have the two top floors of the bunny condo, while she has the bottom one, since she likes to run about the room socializing. 

Lexi's Side of the Story

Oh sure, just like a guy, blame it on the girl. Well, first of all, I only have one floor to romp around on and he has two. I like to sit in my little box and take quick naps during the day. I think Benji has some major anger issues. The first time we met, four months ago, Benji tore a strip of my throat out. So, please don't feel sorry for him. Silver Moon made me a hanging basket that hooks up to his second floor, so that I can run up the ramp and sit in it. I'm trying to get along with him now that I know he's the only bunny for me to play with. I guess time will tell if he's going to be my one and only love.

Silver Moon's Side of the Story

This bonding has been difficult. They got off to a bad start, and Lexi is still under a year, feeling and acting more like a teenager than an adult rabbit. Benji has always been an aloof bun.  He's content to just hang out in his room, only occasionally coming out for a run. He does regret ripping out Lexi's throat several months ago, but he won't let her become the dominant bunny. It wasn't until I put the ramp up to his second floor that Lexi started visiting him without growling each time. Now that the visiting basket is up, she goes to see him often. We're hoping this is a good sign.  Stay tuned!
